On Friday 16th March Clinton Primary School was kindly given a new tree. The students have been so good at wearing their Telecom Sunhats on sunny days to keep sun safe. Therefore the Cancer Society donated the school with a new Maungapiko Tree. This is a New Zealand Native Tree. It will also provide great shade for sun smart students in the future.
Here are some photos of our keen gardeners planting the tree (taken by one of our students!)...
This is what it will look like when it begins to flower
We spent part of one lunchtime making signs for our vegetables. This is going to be great for us and any visitors looking at what type of vegetables are where in our garden.
Vegetables that were planted on the 6th March 2012 include:
Broccoli
Spinach
Lettuce
Peas
Beetroot
Sweet Corn
and Cabbage
Let's hope the frost over the next few weeks doesn't stop them growing!
What a difference we made to the garden getting those weeds out. This garden is looking fantastic! We are all looking forward to planting some vegetables VERY soon.
February 2012
Interest
to resurrect the school vege patch is high. Over the next couple of
weeks we will be clearing the garden of weeds to make way for planting
our winter vegetables.
Any time/ seeds/ plants/ dirt or tools available to donate to the school would be very much appreciated.
